Fund for Bilateral Relations in Czech-Norwegian Research Programme CZ09

Project title: Czech-Norwegian networking on nuclear structure and function

Project No.: 7F16012 (2016-2017)

Acronym:Cze-No-Net

In April 2017 a meeting on nuclear architecture and function will be organized to strengthen the existing Czech-Norwegian co-operation between our laboratories (Laboratory of Molecular Cytology and Cytometry Institute of Biophysics [IBP] AVCR in Brno and Department of Oral Biology, University of Oslo). Scientists from IBP AVCR and Charles University in Prague will be also invited to attend this meeting called “Nuclear architecture and function in health and disease”. We will invite to this meeting an expert in the field of super-resolution microscopy together with renowned researchers interested in laminopathy or biology of tumor cells. In this highly motivated scientific environment, we will further develop a promising network of scientists interested in nuclear architecture and function in normal and pathology cells. Moreover, we will address structural and functional aspects of lamins and associated proteins with respect to DNA repair, using quantitative confocal microscopy, including FRAP and FLIM-FRET technologies. Students and post-docs will represent our target audience. This workshop will enable our students to exchange knowledge and experimental skills, including super-resolution technologies such as Structured Illumination Microscopy (SIM) or Stimulated Emission Depletion (STED) Microscopy. We will publish the summary of our meeting in Czech newspapers, including Brněnský deník. The programme of the meeting will be advertised on webpage:  http://www.ibp.cz/en/departments/molecular-cytology-and-cytometry/group-of-the-structure-and-function-of-the-cell-nucleus/czech-norwegian-research-programme-no-7f16012/ and a banner advertising Czech-Norwegian co-operation will be placed in the Institute of Biophysics, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, v.v.i. In addition, a PhD student from the laboratory of IBP ASCR will take up a three-month training period at the Department of Oral Biology, University of Oslo.Target groups of our activities are following: 1) Students from Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic. 2) Post-docs from the Institute of Biophysics, ASCR, v.v.i., Czech Republic and Charles University in Prague. 3) Students from Oslo University. 4) This meeting will be organized in Český Krumlov.
